# Heat Treatment

## Definition

A thermal or thermomechanical process applied to NiTi alloys — either before machining (e.g., M-Wire) or after (e.g., Gold treatment) — to modify their phase-transformation behavior. Heat-treated files generally show improved flexibility and cyclic fatigue resistance.
