# Intended Purpose and Limitations

This page states what EndoGuide is for, who it is for, and what it is not. It applies to the website, the iOS app, and the clinical tools.

## Intended purpose

EndoGuide is an educational reference and planning aid on endodontic instruments and root canal treatment. It collects manufacturer specifications, published clinical guidance and peer-reviewed literature into a single searchable reference, and presents them with their sources.

It is intended to inform the professional judgement of a qualified clinician. It is not intended to make, replace or direct any diagnostic or treatment decision.

## Intended users and setting

Licensed dentists, endodontists and dental students. EndoGuide is written for readers who already hold the clinical training needed to interpret it.

It is intended for use in preparation, teaching and chairside reference by such a professional. It is not intended for use by patients or by members of the public to guide their own care, and it does not establish a clinician–patient relationship.

## What EndoGuide is not

It is not a diagnostic device and does not analyse patient images, radiographs, sensor signals or laboratory data.

It does not connect to, control, drive or influence the operation of any endodontic motor, apex locator or other instrument. Motor settings shown on the site are reproductions of values published by the manufacturer, provided so that a clinician can look them up — not instructions generated by EndoGuide.

It is not a medical device and carries no regulatory clearance, certification or approval, because it is not intended for any of the medical purposes that would make it one.

It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's current Instructions for Use (IFU/DFU), for professional training, or for clinical examination of the patient in front of you.

## How the tools behave

Find Your File applies a fixed set of scoring rules to the case characteristics you enter and returns a ranked list of file systems, each shown with the reasons that raised or lowered its position. The same inputs always produce the same list. It offers options to weigh; it does not tell you which instrument to use, and instrument selection remains the clinician's decision.

The case difficulty tool totals your own answers to a structured questionnaire and returns a difficulty level with the factors that raised it. It is a planning aid, not an assessment of a patient.

## Where the data comes from

Specifications — sequence, tip size, taper, speed and torque — are reproduced from manufacturer Instructions for Use, brochures and technical documents, and each system page names the document behind them, or states where no manufacturer document could be located. Where sources conflict, or where a value could not be verified, that is stated on the page rather than resolved silently.

Clinical content follows guidance from endodontic societies and peer-reviewed literature, with sources cited. The sourcing and review rules are set out in the editorial policy.

## Known limitations

Manufacturers revise their instructions. A specification here can lag a revision issued after the date shown on the page, which is why the current IFU governs and EndoGuide does not.

Coverage is not exhaustive: not every system, technique or clinical situation is documented, and the absence of something is not a statement about it.

Spanish pages are published as drafts pending clinician read-through, and are marked accordingly.

## Corrections

If you find a specification that does not match the manufacturer's current document, or clinical content you believe is wrong, please report it. Corrections are made on the page and the modification date is updated.
