## Protocol

### Glide Path

1. **Access and Initial Scouting** — After straight-line coronal access, irrigate the canal with NaOCl. Scout the canal with a #10 stainless steel hand K-file to confirm patency and establish estimated working length. Use an apex locator for working length confirmation.
   - Ensure the canal is irrigated and lubricated before introducing rotary files
   - If the #10 hand file cannot reach estimated working length, consider additional hand file negotiation before using GPF files
2. **Glide Path — Navigator NT 15/.01** — Introduce the Navigator NT 15/.01 file with a gentle pecking motion without pressure. The 1% taper and 10 mm flute length allow initial mechanical negotiation of the canal. Advance slowly to working length. Withdraw, clean flutes, and irrigate. _(File: Navigator NT 15/.01 · 500 RPM · 2.5 Ncm)_
   - The Navigator NT file is an NiTi file (not CM-Wire) designed for initial canal negotiation
   - Let the file advance passively; do not force apically
   - ⚠ If resistance is felt, withdraw, irrigate, and recheck patency with a hand file
3. **Glide Path — CM K File 15/.02** — Follow with the CM K File 15/.02 to enlarge the glide path. The 2% taper and 16 mm flute length provide a smooth transition from the Navigator NT. Advance with a pecking motion without pressure to working length. Withdraw, clean, and irrigate. _(File: CM K File 15/.02 · 500 RPM · 2.5 Ncm)_
   - CM-Wire files have no shape memory at room temperature and may arrive slightly bent; correct by hand before use
   - Clean file flutes after every insertion
4. **Glide Path — CM K File 20/.02** — Complete the glide path with the CM K File 20/.02 to establish a #20/.02 pathway. Advance with a pecking motion without pressure to working length. Withdraw, clean, and irrigate. The canal is now ready for the shaping system of your choice. _(File: CM K File 20/.02 · 500 RPM · 2.5 Ncm)_
   - A #20/.02 glide path is the IFU-recommended minimum before using HyFlex CM shaping files
   - The CM K Files track well in the apical third due to controlled memory properties

### Shaping

1. **Proceed with Shaping** — After establishing the glide path with GPF files, proceed with your chosen shaping system. HyFlex GPF is designed to integrate with HyFlex CM and HyFlex EDM shaping files, but it may complement other rotary systems as well.
   - HyFlex CM shaping files (e.g. 20/.04, 25/.04) are the recommended continuation per the HyFlex modular system
   - HyFlex EDM OneFile (25/~) may also follow GPF glide path establishment

### Finishing

1. **Inspect and Reprocess** — After use, clean and steam sterilize files (134°C). CM-Wire shape regenerates during autoclaving. Inspect spirals after autoclaving; if spirals remain lengthened or do not return to original shape, discard the file.
   - Spiral lengthening during use is normal for CM-Wire files; it is a safety feature
   - Shape regeneration occurs during steam sterilization
   - ⚠ If spirals rewind in the opposite direction during use, the file is plastically deformed; discard immediately
   - ⚠ If spirals remain lengthened after autoclaving, discard the file

## Clinical Tips

- HyFlex GPF files use 500 RPM and up to 2.5 Ncm torque (per HyFlex family brochure and summary). Any continuous-rotation endodontic motor may be used.
- The three-file sequence (Navigator NT 15/.01, CM K File 15/.02, CM K File 20/.02) establishes a smooth glide path from initial scouting to #20/.02.
- CM K Files have controlled memory properties, allowing them to track canal anatomy closely without shape memory rebound.
- The Navigator NT file is an NiTi file (not CM-Wire), while the two CM K Files use CM-Wire technology.
- Reusable files; shape regenerates during autoclaving. Visual inspection after autoclaving serves as a discard indicator.
- Available in 21 mm, 25 mm, and 31 mm lengths, as well as assorted packs.

## Warnings

- Reusable instrument; inspect before and after every use for visible changes in material or shape
- If spirals rewind in the opposite direction during use, the file is plastically deformed; discard immediately
- If spirals remain lengthened after autoclaving, the file should be discarded
- Do not use on patients with known nickel or titanium allergy
- Contains nickel-titanium; follow manufacturer reprocessing instructions
- HyFlex GPF does not have a separate product page; specifications are carried by HyFlex family brochures

## Best for
