## Specifications

| File | Tip (mm) | Taper | Length | Cross-section | Motion | Speed (rpm) | Torque | Role |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 16/.02v | 0.16 | 2% (variable progressive to 8.5% at D16) | 21mm, 25mm | Square | Continuous Rotation | 300 | 2-5.2 Ncm | glide path |

## Protocol

### Glide Path

1. **Access and Initial Scouting** — Prepare straight-line access to the canal orifice. Explore the canal up to a #10 K-file. Establish working length with an apex locator, alone or in combination with a radiograph. Confirm patency with a #10 K-file and verify a smooth, reproducible glide path. Irrigate.
   - A reproducible glide path to at least #10 K-file is strongly recommended before using ProGlider
   - A lubricant such as ProLube Root Canal Conditioner is recommended (per DFU)
   - Use an apex locator for working length determination
   - ⚠ Do not use ProGlider without first confirming a reproducible glide path to #10 K-file
   - ⚠ Exercise caution in canals that divide or exhibit abrupt curvatures or recurvatures (per DFU)

### Shaping

1. **ProGlider Glide Path Expansion** — Use ProGlider in one or more passes until the full working length is reached. Use light apical pressure only. Clean flutes frequently and check for signs of distortion or wear. Irrigate the expanded glide path. _(File: 16/.02v · 300 RPM · 2-5.2 Ncm · Clockwise continuous rotation with light apical pressure)_
   - Let the file follow the canal — do not force apically
   - Multiple passes may be needed depending on canal anatomy
   - Clean flutes frequently and check for signs of distortion or wear (per DFU)
   - A chelating gel or lubricant may facilitate progression in calcified canals
   - ⚠ Do not force the file if resistance is felt — withdraw, irrigate, reconfirm patency with #10 K-file, then resume
   - ⚠ Use in clockwise continuous rotation only (per DFU)

### Finishing

1. **Verification and Transition to Shaping** — After ProGlider reaches working length, irrigate the expanded glide path. Reconfirm the working length with a #10 K-file before shaping the canal with mechanized NiTi files such as ProTaper Next, ProTaper Gold, or Vortex Blue.
   - ProGlider creates a reproducible glide path suitable for ProTaper Next, ProTaper Gold, or Vortex Blue shaping sequences (per DFU). ProTaper Ultimate is also compatible.
   - Verify working length after glide path expansion before proceeding to shaping
   - Irrigate copiously between ProGlider and the shaping sequence

## Clinical Tips

- ProGlider operates at 300 RPM with a torque setting of 2-5.2 Ncm (per DFU). Any continuous-rotation endodontic motor with torque control may be used.
- The variable progressive taper (0.02 at the tip increasing to 0.085 at D16) allows gentle, incremental canal enlargement without excessive dentin removal.
- M-Wire NiTi provides enhanced cyclic fatigue resistance compared to conventional NiTi, which may be beneficial in curved canals.
- ProGlider replaces the multi-file PathFile sequence (013 + 016 + 019) with a single instrument for glide path preparation.
- A lubricant such as ProLube Root Canal Conditioner is recommended during use (per DFU). EDTA gel may also be used.
- Single-use instrument — do not reprocess or reuse. Multiple uses may cause stress to the file and can lead to file separation (per DFU).

## Warnings

- Single-use, sterile instrument — do not reprocess or reuse
- The use of a rubber dam system is recommended (per DFU)
- Explore the canal up to a #10 K-file before using ProGlider (per DFU)
- Use in clockwise continuous rotation only — do not use in reciprocating motion
- Exercise caution in canals that divide or exhibit abrupt curvatures or recurvatures (per DFU)
- Contains nickel-titanium — do not use on patients with known nickel allergy
- Clean flutes frequently and check for signs of distortion or wear

## Best for

- single-file mechanical glide path
- companion to ProTaper Gold, ProTaper Next, ProTaper Ultimate, and Vortex Blue
- replacing multi-file PathFile sequence
