## Protocol

### Glide Path

1. **Initial Access and Hand File Patency** — Place rubber dam and obtain straight-line coronal access. Establish working length with #10 K-file using apex locator and/or radiograph. Confirm apical patency with #10 K-file.
   - ISO #10 hand file to working length is the prerequisite before Traverse use
   - Flood pulp chamber with NaOCl
   - Pre-curve hand files for curved canals
2. **Orifice Opening** — Use Traverse Orifice Opener (25/.08, 17mm) to flare the canal orifice and provide straight-line access to the canal. _(File: Orifice Opener (25/.08, 17mm) · 500 RPM · 1.47-3.43 Ncm · Continuous rotation)_
   - 17mm length provides better posterior access
   - Creates funnel-shaped orifice for easier glide path file insertion
3. **Rotary Glide Path** — Use Traverse rotary glide path file (13/.06 or 18/.06) to smooth canal walls and create a reproducible glide path to working length. Select 13/.06 for narrower canals or 18/.06 for slightly wider canals. _(File: 13/.06 or 18/.06 · 500 RPM · 1.47-3.43 Ncm · Continuous rotation)_
   - .06 taper creates a more tapered glide path than .02 taper hand files — may reduce workload on subsequent shaping files
   - Non-cutting tip helps reduce transportation and apical debris extrusion
   - Pre-sterilized packaging eliminates cross-contamination risk

### Shaping

1. **Proceed with Shaping Files** — After glide path is established, shape the canal with your preferred shaping system. Traverse is designed to complement TF Adaptive but is compatible with other rotary and reciprocating systems.
   - Designed to pair with TF Adaptive simplified technique: Traverse 13/.06 then TF Adaptive ML1 (per product page)
   - Compatible with other Kerr and non-Kerr shaping systems
   - Irrigate and confirm patency before proceeding to shaping

### Finishing

1. **Complete Shaping and Obturation** — Complete canal shaping and cleaning with your chosen finishing files. Disinfect and obturate per standard protocol.
   - Use matching gutta percha points for the shaping system selected
   - Standard irrigation protocol throughout

## Clinical Tips

- Pre-sterilized packaging — no cross-contamination risk and ready to use (per product page)
- Triangular cross-section for higher cutting efficiency (per product page)
- Non-cutting tip helps reduce transportation and apical debris extrusion (per product page)
- Manufacturer comparison claims higher torsional resistance than One G, ProGlider, and EdgeGlidePath (per product page)
- Designed to complement TF Adaptive simplified technique: #10/#15 hand files → Traverse 13/.06 → TF Adaptive ML1
- .06 taper glide path may reduce workload on subsequent shaping files compared to .02 taper alternatives
- Available in kits (1 orifice opener + 3 rotary files) or refill packs (4 files same size)

## Warnings

- Single use only — pre-sterilized, do not resterilize
- Contains nickel — do not use on patients with known nickel allergy
- Use only in electric motor and handpiece designed for rotary files
- Do not force files — use light apical pressure
- Irrigate copiously throughout the procedure
- Clean flutes frequently and check for signs of distortion or wear

## Best for

- rotary glide path creation
- pairing with TF Adaptive system
- faster glide path vs hand files alone

## Technical profile

- **Category:** niche
- **Heat treatment:** Conventional — Conventional NiTi (no specific heat treatment mentioned in product page)
- **Manufacturing method:** ground
- **Pre-bendable:** no
- **Reuse:** Single-use
- **Motor:** any-rotary
- **Glide path requirement:** manual-only — #10 K-file to working length before using Traverse rotary glide path files
- **Canal suitability:** Curvature: mild, moderate, severe; Canal size: narrow, normal; Calcified canals: no; Retreatment: no; Conservative access: no

## FAQ

**What alloy is Traverse made from?**

Traverse™ is manufactured from NiTi with conventional heat treatment.

**How many files are in the Traverse sequence?**

The Traverse™ system includes 3 files: Orifice Opener, 13/.06, 18/.06.

**What is the Traverse file sequence?**

Traverse™ is used in this order: 13/.06 → 18/.06 → Orifice Opener. Per-file speed, torque and technique are in the protocol section above.

**What motion type does Traverse use?**

Traverse™ uses continuous rotation motion.

**What cases is Traverse best for?**

Traverse™ is best suited for: rotary glide path creation, pairing with TF Adaptive system, faster glide path vs hand files alone.

**What speed and torque settings are recommended for Traverse?**

Recommended settings: 500 RPM and 1.47-3.43 Ncm across the file sequence (refer to official DFU for full per-file parameters).
