| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| XP-endo Shaper | 0.30 | 1% (expands to at least 4%) | 21mm, 25mm, 31mm | Booster Tip (6 cutting edges at tip, triangular shaft) | Continuous Rotation | 800-1000 | 1.0 Ncm | — |
| XP-endo Finisher | 0.25 | 0% | 21mm, 25mm, 31mm | Zero-taper sickle-shaped (cleaning, non-shaping) | Continuous Rotation | 800-1000 | 1.0 Ncm | — |

## Protocol

### Glide Path

1. **Create Glide Path** — Establish glide path to at least 15/.02 before using XP-endo Shaper. In calcified/constricted canals or complex curvatures, a glide path to 10/.04 is recommended.
   - Glide path is mandatory
   - Use #15 K-files or rotary glide path files
   - In multirooted teeth, begin with the largest canal
   - ⚠ Do not use without proper glide path

### Shaping

1. **Warm the File** — Allow file to reach body temperature before insertion. File will expand from 1% to at least 4% taper.
   - File appears straight at room temperature
   - Expands and curves at 35°C+
   - Keep file in canal for expansion to occur
2. **Adaptive Shaping** — Use at 800-1000 RPM with 1.0 Ncm torque. Use long gentle strokes to progress to working length. If WL not reached in 5 strokes, stop, irrigate, recapitulate and proceed again. _(File: XP-endo Shaper · 800-1000 RPM · 1.0 Ncm · Long gentle strokes (NOT pecking motion))_
   - Do NOT use pecking motion - use long gentle strokes only
   - Never force the instrument - keep it spinning and moving
   - Once WL reached, work for 15 additional strokes
   - File adapts to canal shape at body temperature
   - ⚠ Never use pecking motion with XP-endo Shaper
   - ⚠ Always keep file spinning and moving while in canal

### Finishing

1. **Cone-Fit Check** — Check whether a 30/.04 gutta-percha point seats tightly at WL. If it does not fit, work the XP-endo Shaper for an additional 5-10 strokes, then recheck (per IFU).
   - This step determines whether shaping is complete
   - If 30/.04 cone seats tightly: shaping is done, proceed to cleaning
   - If 30/.04 does not seat: 5-10 more XP-S strokes, then recheck
2. **XP-endo Finisher (Plus Sequence)** — Use XP-endo Finisher for final cleaning and debris removal (part of the Shaper Plus sequence). _(File: XP-endo Finisher · 800-1000 RPM · 1.0 Ncm)_
   - Non-cutting design for cleaning only
   - Use for 1 minute (~60 strokes) with slow gentle 7-8mm longitudinal movements
   - Make small multidirectional movements; avoid removing file from canal during use
   - Use with NaOCl for optimal cleaning

## Clinical Tips

- MaxWire expands at body temperature (Af ~35°C)
- Designed to adapt to oval and irregular canal shapes — literature shows improved wall contact vs conventional files, though untouched areas may remain (PMC6721469)
- Minimizes transportation in curved canals
- Higher RPM (800-1000) than conventional files

## Warnings

- Must use at body temperature for expansion
- Requires proper glide path (#15 minimum)
- Single use only (maximum 4 canals per file per IFU)
- Low torque setting recommended (1.0 Ncm per manufacturer DFU)
- Contains nickel — do not use in patients with nickel allergy/sensitivity
- Check expiry date before use; do not use if packaging is damaged
- Inspect instrument for visible defects before each use

## Contraindications

- known allergic sensitivity to nickel (per standalone Shaper IFU)

## Best for

- irregular/oval canals
- 3D adaptation at body temperature
- minimized transportation in curved canals
