This table records what each manufacturer states about its own sealer, taken from the instructions for use, safety data sheets, technical profiles, brochures and product pages held on file. Nothing here is taken from a journal, a distributor listing or a search result.

A blank cell means the value is not stated in the documents obtained — it does not mean zero, and it has not been filled in from another source. Values are tagged with the document they came from, because only the instructions for use are regulatory labelling; a brochure figure is a manufacturer's marketing claim.

Handling notes

  • The IFU asks for use immediately after the 24-gauge tip is placed, and states the material can harden in contact with air.
  • Safety and effectiveness are not established in pregnancy, breastfeeding, children or adolescents.
  • In apical external resorption the IFU asks for care to prevent extrusion beyond the canal.

  • The insert asks for a properly placed rubber dam isolating the operating field.
  • With a wide apical foramen the insert states apexification should precede filling.

Composition: Zirconium oxide, calcium silicates, calcium hydroxide, calcium phosphate monobasic and filler agents.

  • The IFU asks for a rubber dam before use.
  • The IFU asks for moderate syringe pressure and for filling to stay short of the apex.

  • Setting time: ISO 6876:2012. The manufacturer's catalogue and product page state 3.5 h — the IFU value is the labelling value and the conflict is unresolved by the manufacturer.
  • Radiopacity: Catalogue figure. The IFU states only that the material is radiopaque.
  • pH: The catalogue states pH > 12 as well.

Composition: Calcium silicate, calcium aluminate, calcium oxide, zirconium oxide, iron oxide, silicon dioxide and dispersing agent.

Contraindications

  • Reported sensitivity to any formula component
  • Expired product or damaged packaging

Handling notes

  • The IFU states the product should be used only after infection control, because the material will not set in an acidic environment.
  • The IFU asks for drying with paper points without over-drying, and states moisture from dentinal tubules initiates setting.
  • Excessive extrusion into the periapical region is to be avoided.
  • Safety and efficacy are not established in vulnerable populations.

  • Radiopacity: Technical-scientific profile, ISO 6876:2012. The IFU states only 'high radiopacity'.
  • Solubility: The same technical profile also reports 0.5–2.5 % in its text — the manufacturer's document is internally inconsistent.

Composition: Calcium and magnesium silicate, calcium sulfate, potassium sulfate, calcium oxide, zirconium oxide, silicon dioxide and dispersing agent. The folder states the sealer is resin-free.

  • Expired product or damaged packaging

Handling notes

  • The IFU excludes use without gutta-percha cones.
  • The IFU limits use to canals where infection has been controlled, and states acidic pH from an infected medium may impair setting.

BC Universal Sealer

Composition: Calcium aluminosilicate compound, zirconium oxide, filler and thickening agent (IFU). SDS lists zirconium oxide 15–25 %, calcium sulfate dihydrate < 5 %, calcium sodium phosphosilicate < 5 %, propylene glycol 2–7 %, titanium dioxide 2–7 %.

Handling notes

  • The IFU warns against pressing the paste with excess force, linking it to acute pain.
  • The IFU asks that filling stay short of the apex.
  • The IFU keeps the syringe tip no deeper than the coronal third.

Specification notes

  • Setting time: ISO 6876:2012 at 100 % humidity; the IFU adds that in normal root canals setting can take more than 2.5 hours. The brochure separately states initial 5 ± 2 min and final 45 ± 5 min.
  • Radiopacity: Measured according to ISO 6876.
  • Flow: As printed this sits below the ISO 6876 floor of 17 mm for flow; the value is quoted as the manufacturer states it.
  • pH: The same brochure elsewhere states pH > 12.

Composition: Paste A: calcium tungstate, Araldite GY 250 and GY 285 epoxy resins, zirconium oxide, silicon dioxide, iron oxide pigments. Paste B: calcium tungstate, zirconium oxide, amantadine, dibenzyldiamine, silicon dioxide, polydimethylsiloxane, tricyclodecane-diamine.

  • The SDS classifies it as a skin sensitiser (H317).
  • The SSCP notes that discolouration can occur because of bismuth oxide in the filler system.

Salicylate resin with MTA filler

Short answer

EndoSequence BC Sealer and TotalFill BC Sealer share a chemistry and much of their IFU text, yet the Brasseler IFU states more than 30 minutes of working time and the FKG IFU states more than 4 hours.
